IN-BOARD, the INSEAD Alumni Board Initiative, is a seminar that, in best INSEAD lifelong-learning tradition, prepares INSEAD Alumni for board work. IN-BOARD is an initiative developed by alumni for alumni, who aspire to play an effective role on Boards of small/medium-sized private and listed companies.

It is IN-BOARD’s objective to address the deficits in corporate governance that have emerged over the past years. The tailor-made seminar is designed to form “the INSEAD-trained and IN-BOARD-conditioned” non-executive director who can make a difference through her/his contribution to a company’s board.

The German modules, which deal with local aspects of board work, are provided by renowned consultancy firms. For details, see the 2025 program’s content overview and its providers below.

Leadership Programme
Arrival for the Welcome Dinner 26.11./27.11.
late afternoon/early evening
INSEAD adds its competence in governance and leadership to IN-BOARD with the „Leadership Programme“ which is conducted over a long weekend on campus in Fontainebleau. Here, the behavioural aspects of board work, “Board Dynamics”, “Board Effectiveness” and “Leadership” are in the forefront of the module. A full day of group coaching based on a 360° appraisal gives IN-BOARD participants the opportunity to test and correct their own leadership styles. The Leadership Programme gives IN-BOARD its uniqueness and differentiates IN-BOARD from many other non-executive director seminars.
The successful co-operation between the alumni associations of the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway and Great Britain has turned IN-BOARD into a truly international, INSEAD spirited initiative to enhance the quality of board work.

IN-BOARD Alumni:
IN-BOARD has meanwhile attracted more than 700 alumni from Europe, thereof nearly 180 from Germany, where the program was introduced in 2011.

Since IN-BOARD is also designed to serve as a platform for IN-BOARD alumni to network with peers, international IN-BOARD networking events are organized to address this objective, namely to share board experiences and exchange ‘on-boarding’ strategies.
