WOMEN IN BUSINESS
More than fifty years have passed since the first two female MBA candidates set foot on INSEAD’s Fontainebleau campus. A lot has been achieved on the gender diversity front since then, but it is still important to move forward.
The mission of INSEAD Women in Business (IWiB) is to enable our alumnae to be successful in leadership roles by providing opportunities for personal and professional development and access to a strong network of fellow leaders.
In Germany, several initiatives and events have already been set up or are underway to bring this mission to life.
IWiB Mentoring Programme for Young Alumnae
Accompany young alumnae in the first years after the MBA and support them in making decisions
The IWiB Mentoring Programme connects current MBA student members of IWiB to more experienced female INSEAD alumnae. Through one-on-one coaching and experience sharing, mentors support their mentees’ personal and professional development. The programme matches interested IWiB MBA student members with mentors based on their post-MBA professional interests and motivation.

On Track

Stay ON TRACK While Caring For Your Young Family
A 2021 study by McKinsey found that the pressures of caregiving are driving employees – especially women – to consider downshifting their careers or leaving the workforce. Women in senior leadership are more likely than men at the same level to feel as though they are “always on”.
The same study shows that the pandemic has intensified challenges as support functions including school and childcare have been upended. Years of slow but steady progress could be erased by the COVID-19 crisis.
A Unique Program by INSEAD - Women in Business
Continuing on a career path while caring for a family can be challenging mainly for women. This is why ON TRACK assists young female INSEAD Alumni in maintaining professional momentum during times in which they start thinking about combining caring responsibilities with careers or are already experiencing the juggle. The format follows a scientifically proven formula developed for female doctors by the University of Freiburg with a success rate of over 80%. Since its start in the context of the INSEAD Women in Business Club in 2018, it has shown to be equally valuable in the business world.
Three Pillars To Build On:
Peer-to-peer: exchange with a selected group of 4-6 fellow alumnae who face similar challenges
(twelve sessions, monthly)
One-on-one: link up with a more senior alumnus who has been there before (six sessions, bi-monthly).
Skills and Inspiration: learn how to apply basic coaching skills (two workshops lead by a professional coach).
Get inspired by fellow alumnae role models who share their insights and experience (flexible number of sessions).
Whom we address:
Female INSEAD Alumnae up until 5 years after graduation. Group Size and Duration: Each cohort consists of a total of 12 participants (6 mentees and 6 mentors) and runs for a period of 1 year. Participation Fee: 100,– Euro for the one year program for mentees, free for mentors. Upcoming Cohorts: starting Autumn 2021
What participants say about the program:

It really addressed the right questions at the right time in my life.”
“The on track relationships have pushed me to take on new roles,
new activities, new thinking and acting.”

Beyond Conference
Support alumnae in career transitions and help identify purpose.
The Beyond Conference is for women leaders of all ages who are willing to push the envelope and aspire to serve as an inspiration to others. During the 1.5 day conference, we cut the small talk and get real. Beyond Conference coaches outstanding women to be crystal clear on how they – through their leadership and their vision – can be profoundly more impactful.
The Beyond Conference is a cooperation between the IWiB and the arc training and has so far been hosted in Cologne and Munich – stay tuned for further sessions.
